The sealing mechanism for quad rings is similar to that of an O-ring. Although there is no spiral twist, they offer less friction than a traditional O-ring. It gets rid of the tendency to roll into the groove. The diametrical squeeze in a right-angled track produces the sealing. The system pressure generates a strong sealing force.
