A solenoid is a mechanical device that consists of a wire coil, a case, and a movable plunger. When a current is applied to the curl, a magnetic field forms around it, pulling the plunger inwards. Electrical energy is converted into mechanical work by a solenoid. Many turns of tightly coiled copper wire make up the coil. When an electrical current flows through this wire, it generates a significant magnetic field/flux. The curl is enclosed in a housing, typically made of iron or steel, and concentrates the magnetic field produced by the coil. The magnetic field concentration causes the plunger to come to a halt, supplying the mechanical force required to complete the task.
